Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient system of healing that has been around for thousands of years. It has evolved into a very accepted form of treatment that is used to control or eliminate pain, speed recovery, and improve function.

It involves the insertion of very fine needles (disposable one-time-use sterilized needles) through the skin at very specific acupuncture points. There is no injection of substances. It has anti-inflammatory effect and stimulates the release of pain-relieving endorphins.

At Novo Healthnet, we will use it in conjunction with other forms of treatment to either enhance recovery or to reduce acute symptoms and allow a quicker progression to manual therapy and functional exercise. Treatment with acupuncture can produce rapid results but more often requires several sessions over a period of time. There is usually some change after 5-6 treatments. Conditions such as headaches, whiplash, sciatica, and tendonitis are just some of the injuries that can respond very well to acupuncture.
